The Customer

Spatial Technologies and Lanco group has teamed up to improve the way Lanco Group captures as-build data for planning and development.
Lanco Group Pty Ltd was established in 1998 as a Civil Engineering Consultant with a planned business philosophy to provide professional services in Civil Engineering Designs, Hydraulic Services (sewer and water supply), Project Management, Contract Administration and Drafting. They are an accredited consultant with Melbourne Water, the Melbourne Retail Water companies and the regional authority’s Goulburn Valley Water and Gippsland Water.

The Challenge

Lanco Group engaged Spatial Technologies to help devise a solution that would increase design accuracy, and appease the increasing requirements of various water authorities.
Lanco Group wanted a device that could be operated with ease by a number of people in their office. Primarily, it would be utilised to record existing site data that would be implemented later into drawings during the design stage.

The Solution

The system implemented by Spatial Technologies allowed them to use cost effective dual frequency GNSS receivers with a windows tablet to capture assets. Not only did they gain productivity and reduction in errors from the field, they can now improve their accuracy to 10mm horizontally and 20-30mm vertically.

The Results

Since acquiring the device, there has been a vast increase in design accuracy, shorter design times and an increase in data transfer from site to the office.
Spatial Technologies spent a great deal of time with Lanco Group to ensure they were supplied with the best product to suit their needs. This involved onsite training, informal office presentations and phone and email correspondence.

“Thanks to Spatial Technologies, Lanco Group now record their own data almost daily. This has resulted in positive feedback from both clients and contractors.” Tony Georgiadis | Director at Lanco Group

Spatial Technologies has also provided Lanco Group with a solution that will have future benefits in a seemly endless array of applications.
